Technical
Writer/Trainer with extensive work experience is required to capture meeting
minutes, review, and edit the technical/formal documentation. The qualified
applicant will become part of SSSI and The Sharps Solutions Information
technology support services contract for the Census Bureau.
Description
of Work:
Produce and maintain product documentation
including but not limited to design specifications, marketing/sales materials,
user manuals/guides, training materials, proposals, reports, and on-line help Collaborate
productively with all subject matter experts within a team environment to
develop appropriate content. Subject matter experts may include, but are not
limited to, developers, project managers, training instructors, project leads,
engineers, and field service personnel Follow the standard design, layout, and format
of the documentation using approved software tools. Prepare graphics to support
documentation including screen captures, scanned images, digital photos, and
line art Test user documentation against the product in
conjunction with the SME to ensure the documentation's technical accuracy
rectifying any discrepancies Manage each defined project responsibly and on
schedule including planning time for necessary reviews of documentation.
Anticipate projects in development stage and communicate with the Manager to
allow for adequate planning Foster a positive working environment and build
solid work relationships with other teams and groups. The writer requires the
assistance of a broad range of subject matter experts and must approach all
relationships with a service-minded attitude of flexibility and adaptability Create effective graphics, flow charts, and
diagrams for inclusion in documentation Edit and proofread technical materials using
standard editing marks Analyze documentation products and generates
initiatives to improve quality, reduce customer service costs, and decrease
customer support calls Prioritize and manage multiple projects within
design specifications and budget restrictions Interact and collaborate effectively with
internal and external team members to assure needs of the company are met Assist in project planning; provides reports and
updates as required Become knowledgeable on the HIPAA policies and
procedures for the program and ensure awareness of HIPAA breach
process. Understand your role in HIPAA compliance and be able to execute
that role in an effective manner
Basic
Qualifications:
Minimum
knowledge, skills, abilities.
Master’s degree and 4 years of experience,
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience or 10 years of technical
writing and/or journalism experience will satisfy degree and experience
requirements in, 3 years’ experience in MS Word, MS Project, MS Power Point,
and MS Visio 4 years proven experience creating/editing
high-quality documentation
Strong verbal and written communication skills; writes clearly and concisely,
speaks articulately, assures communications are comprehensive and timely,
involving all who need to know 4 years’ experience interviewing to identify the
requester's needs and address them, sometimes with little guidance Impeccable communication style - both written
and verbal Self-starter attitude with ability to execute on
deadlines Flexibility and willingness to shift gears as
needs change Results oriented and demonstrates commitment to
follow-through Works effectively within all levels of an
organization Strong interpersonal skills to help foster good
cross-functional relationships

Engineering-related degree or an equivalent combination of training and
experience Prior federal government experience is a plus Effective analysis skills for scrutinizing and
evaluating product operation and interpreting into effective documentation Strong interest in software, leading-edge
computer, and technical writing technologies
